If there are enough "adults" of any age that want to save this site from the cursing and insulting comments, then let's start posting here and ignore them.
Lou, how's your back, are you planning to bowl again in the fall?
I'd like to contact you. I'm the guy who gave you Ernie's number last year from Central Jersey.

HarryBar did you bowl action yourself, if so on what level. Who were some of your opponents.

Old Dog and Billy, I bowled from the late 50's to the late 60's. Never was that good. Decent house bowler that averaged a deuce for money in a tough house.
I posted here last year as Stevie Wonder and had a pro shop in upper Manhattan from 1963-68.
Was good friends and sometime partner with Ernie Schlegel. Hung out at Gun Post and Central. We also went to places like Whitestone, Laguardia, Ave. M, Paramus, Skytop, Yonkers Bowl, etc.
Knew and or bowled with the best like Raplh Engan, Frank Medici, Mikie Lemongello, Iggy Russo, Jack Clemente, and all the rest of the crowd in those days.
I loved every minute "wasted" and have very fond memories of all the characters and laughs.
The hustling and conniving as a young guy helped me greatly in my "adult" life in the business world. People who think they are slick or full of B.S. are just very obvious to me and I find that I'm one step ahead of all of them because of my life during the action days.

Harry sounds like you have a load of great stories, I would love for you to write some of them and either post them here or pm them to me to go into a special action stories part of the website under your name.
I myself hung out at Ave M in the late 50s to 1966 but didn't get out to the other great action houses much. I was only at Central lanes once, but what a site that was.
I'll never forget the night this skinny little kid walked into Ave M for the very first time and wiped the house out. (it was like watching a lightening bolt strike) His LI backers covered all the action that could be thrown their way.
He did the same thing for the next 3 or 4 weekends, he even beat freddie the oz at his own game on the 4lb lead filled logs. I bet you know who that skinny kid was, 16 years old at the time (I believe) Now that was real action, not what goes on these days.
I went to Raceway a lot in 1976 on Saturday nights, a lot of good action there also.

Billy, thanks for the kind words and great post.
Of course, it was Mikie Lemongello. I was at Whitestone one night with Ernie and the same thing happened. We were in our early 20's and he was about 16. He came in with his crew and challanged Ernie. I think they went back and forth and Mike came out one or two up. But, they got along very well and Ernie told him to come to Gun Post the next weekend so they could bowl doubles against Ralph Engan and Hank Borroughs.
The rest is history, they were unbeatable.
That was all before we started going up to Central. See, Gun Post got raided one Sunday morning around 5 am and the cops took away the kid holding the money and unscrewed the score table and took that for evidence. Didn't bother the bowlers though. Very funny.
I'd love to chat with you, how do I contact you?

I would love to hear more about that night at Gun Post, I was never there, wish I was. Did they know who Lemmon was at that time?
I'll send you a pm on how to contact me.
