I would appreciate a response to the following question from the more intelligent action bowlers out there.
What does it take to get/earn respect from other action bowlers?

i dont think its possible. i bowled action and won alot and you read the crap they write about me. but the people that knock other people like that, because they are unhappy with there lives. or couldnt cut it bowling. personally i made a decision at 22 years old after my father died. get a job and make money or stay on tour and hope to be profitable. i made the right decision. because the top bowlers on tour made 145000 before expenses.less 25000 for expences minus taxes plus split with sponcer ,if they had one they earned 40 grand. remember action bowlers are usually degenerates betting on anything.most live day to day, week to week. vnl it doesnt matter there will always be someone to knock you.very few class acts in this sport. i spoke to an old friend the other day and he said come bowl me now,i can beat you, i said ,great you bowl 150 games a week your whole life i havent bowled in years. bowling proves nothing. i can win 85% of the time at circle lanes because you CANT MISS, it s a carry contest. you dot need to throw a tank the ball does it for you.today everyone talks about the s shot. that means reverse block. people talk like thats the equaliser. 5 th arrow was the norm in action the lanes were dry by 3 in the morning,. i remember winning in plainview. 192 bowlers and 40 over made the finals.out of 192 only 16 people were over.nobody oiled the lanes before the pba event, we bowled anyway. today if there shot isnt there they dont bowl. its a shame!! the horn would bowl on any shot,so would ernie and lemon, joe s,they should stop knocking people and just bowl.

Lou...although Circle is the Great Wall of China...you never did and never will win 85% of the time. The reason is exactly what you stated...it is a carry contest. While, I am half the bowler that you are...I doubt that you would beat me heads up there 8-9 games out of 10 games. LOL! I think you forgot about the 140's you bowled at Circle and guys like Marc Francis that beat you! Lou, no disrespect intended...it is just that you can't make statements like that when you are talking about a wall! ;D

dear john, sounds corny huh. mark and i ended 2 and 2 no one won. the 140's were bowled but only the 1st 2 weeks. and beating you 85 % probobly not on that shot. you are right. but as a lefty you know as well as i that there are only a few lefty's in that house and your shot doesn't break down as much. also what i believe that on an even condition where a 2 or 3 board area is the only shot i will win a higher % of the games. i dont expect anyone here to believe i can just walk out on the lanes and become a 250 shooter.but answer me trhis. i bowled for about 7 weeks .the 1st time that sunday after we met from talking on this site. would you believe that someone who had not bowled in 10 years was capable of bowling like i did at, that house mind you,in such a short time. and would you have bowled me in lets say carolier even though i barely was over for the 10 games. i am not 1 10th the bowler i was when i was younger. i am just saying bowlers who avg 220 today would have averaged 180 ,185 tops in the late 70's. in 1977 1978 at maple my top avg was probobly 201. and i averaged 208 on tour. 1986 at rainbow and maple i averaged 233.1993 i averaged 234 at eagle rock in thos 3 years of bowling i shot 14 300's i had only bowled 7 in the years before. 730 would win high series for the year in a major league in ny. now 720 you arent in the top 20 for the week. my point john you are a good bowler but would you bet me you could hit the same mark on the lane 8 out of 10 shots. when i was 15 or so petraglia was giving me pointers and relised i dropped my eyes when reached the approach. so he said how do you know you hit your mark. i could only answeer i am not sure ,so he put a penny under a piece of tape and had me bowl . i hit that penny 28 out 30 times. could you do that . i have watched you bowl and you know i always tell you how good you are , but you couldnt hit the same mark 8 out of ten times thats what sepperates the average from the pro's. to even get on the lanes with mark that day was a ballsy move he is supposedly the best in the house, yet did i back down.answer no.let me ask 1 more question would you bowl me if they reversed blocked the lanes and you only had 2 boards to hit the pocket on a tight angle. the answer is probobly no. plus the hell with this game wanna play golf or what lol. call me

Lou...I never said I could beat you on tough conditions. Unlike most bowlers, I know my weaknesses. I never bowled more than twice a week in my life. In fact, I don't know squat about bowling equipment and don't look at a mark..I bowl with one ball. ..I am not accurate and I am an average spare shooter at best, but my point was simply that you can't crush people 85% of the time on walls...that was it. PS - I gave Marc a good spanking this weekend...for some reason he was not carrying swishing 7-10's and flush 8 pins. LOL! Golf? ...I am even worse at that!

It takes no bs and whipping the best on the lanes. Capasso must have been good. Nobody could possibly dream up all that bs he's been throwing our way.

Say what you want about Lou but he was a force. He's what action bowling was all about. Big ego, would bowl anyone , thought he was the best, had a big mouth and could back it up.

to stepin, i was lucky to grow up around petraglia, he taught me alot.always helped if i had a problem.always offered advice, and always knew i would be on tour. but i also had another petraglia teach me as a junior ,johns father bill was my coach as a teen. how cool was it to actually know the man you idolized. then if that wasn't enough i had mark roth as a friend. mark and i would bowl regionals and local tourneys like the landgraf, suswall and vargo, he was alot of fun to hang with. i may not have fared as well as i would have liked on tour but i only had a couple of years there. never know what would have happened had me father not died when i was 21 years old. i believe i would have won a few stops. reason being i was an action bowler, whether it was for 20 dollars or 1000 i HAD to win. maybe i had a big ego . but i would have won, when i won the regional i won every match till the last and by then it was soooooo far out of the wood anyway, it didnt matter. i like answering questions about the past, i would love to pass some of my knowledge of the sport but everyone here enjoys knocking people more then talking about there own action stories. anyway thanks for a possitive .

Jeez - I asked a simple question, and you have turned it into another of your personal story posts.
