I was around mainly in the 60s through the mid 70s, I bet a lot on the owner of this site, butch, he use to get his balls drilled by Bob Sr. on 7th ave.
At the time butch bowled a lot at Ave M and Leader Lanes, Frankie & Johnies, etc. against guys like Bee Bee Notaro, Doug Weinstein, Dwoskin Brothers, Les Sager, Les Shirwindt, Mac Wagner, Sal The Plumber, Tommy DiNardo, Mousie Bonsignori.
In the 70's he bowled at Raceway, Kenmore, Whitestone, Kuskies, Green Acres, etc. against Beeber, Les, Bill Daley, Mike Foti, what's his name Starr at Rainbow, the night of the big Rags, Roth, Jeff, Cliff match.
Those were great days, great action, the 60s were the best, the 70s were ok. Bob Sr. wasn't a big action bowler, although he did bowl some big time matches, he was a really great bowler none the less.
One of my local favorites at the time was Billy Picone also not a big action bowler along with Val. One of the best action bowlers from the 50s and early sixties was Joe Santini.
Big Lou was a monster in his short lived prime, he was tough with both his ball and his mouth and had a big pair of balls to go along with the rest of his package...

Is this site still functioning? Nobody seems to have posted anything for the last six months.

Harry, We're still here, the main site www.actionbowlers.com still gets lots of traffic (visitors) The board dried up ever since I made it mandatory to sign up in order to post, so be it, we had so much garbage here that the legit members rightfully complained about, now all they have to do is start posting again! the garbage is gone...

Hey, I'm still here. Miss all the posts by the people who really were there in the action days.
Today in fact a few of us are having lunch at Harold's NY Deli in Woodbridge, NJ.
John Kourabas,Tony Mustache, Bob Materasso, Steve Harris, etc from the Bronx Gun Post and Central Ave. days.
Should be lots of laughs between bites of pastrami.

Harry, that sounds great.
You can help by spreading the word that it's a clean board again ready for some old fashion action talk and stories.
This is the only site in all the world devoted to the great past and present action bowlers, we had some real good discussions in the past by some of the games biggest names, it's time to start again...
