What an embarrassing display of action bowling went on at Lakewood lanes in Waterbury CT. last night.....
"THE SO-CALLED GREAT ACTION BOWLERS" Judge Abruzzese (NY) and Willie Willis bailed out on a match after just 1 game because they didn't have the advantage "NO CHINA - NO CHECK" after they smacked us (Angel & D.J.) around for $3700.00 about 6 weeks ago.
We bowled them at Nutmeg lanes on the 60 ft shim and simply got drilled, hats off to them as they bowled great and averaged about 500 for 10 games, again HATS OFF....but when it was our turn for a re-match and the match was to be bowled at Lakewood lanes (by the way neither one of our houses) just closer to where we live they bailed out because the shot was a little dry, YES I agree the conditions were dry but no dryer than bowling match play at most NEBA's.
I'm sure they must think we had the shot set up to our advantage but PLEASE everyone that knows us knows we'll bowl on any condition and again after getting pounced at nutmeg we hung in knowing we were at a big disadvantage there, but to QUIT after 1 game with our money in their pocket THAT'S JUST NOT RIGHT!
Not to make a blanket statement but I thought "ACTION" bowlers had more balls...(Even John Ellis has more balls-??)
Angel & D.J.
P.S. We apologize for our behavior last night.

There have always been scumbags on the lanes going all the way back to the 60s.

bowl a match with plastic equiptment...forget this reactive stuff. everyone is now throwing a monster.. use plastic on real lane conditions ...gutter to gutter 30 feet....no taper. no walls just bowling the way it was since the begining.

Give it a rest the Only thing embarrassing is the fix wasn't smart enough planned (not real Action Bowlers) The fools tried to take advantage of a lane condition that was oiled 1 once a week, (Durning summer Months-Thurday we bowled the next Tuesday ) the so call Action Bowlers Picked the house knowing the term of Lane condition Even through we give a match on the condition (against My Better Judgement after Practice) The match was throw contest ,We couldnt win so we handed them $1000.00 for the win And asked to oil the lanes and they can bet what ever they wanted, the fools refuse to bowl Taking the spoiled kid way out start cry and bitching about where suppose to give them a chance to win their money back, And try to start a fight and argue I told them your pretty low to have to set up to 56yrs old Bowlers to win Their statement By Them Was: (YES I agree the conditions were dry but no dryer than bowling match play at most NEBA's.) NO CHINA - NO CHECK Even bowling NEBA there Cashing ratio isn't good Since when has a bowler Or Bowlers who's lost ever told the truth, now you have it disadvantage there bowling ability Now you know As Far As plastic / rubber ball i bowled most of those Era The true action Bowler back in the day know me Even Lou C See Yeah Willie Willis

Hello Willie, You probably don't want to remember me, but I certainly have the greatest admiration for you. I think you were one of the toughest bowlers over the years. I won't go back in history right now but I think you got a wrong opinion of me. I was with Paul Moser at a NEBA. He wanted to know why I was not bowling. Had some physical problems including age. But I love the competition. I thought you put on the most impressive show late at Riverdale. Orv and Eddie had supported me (with enough winnings) and I took Gary Morgan (beat him in every tenth frame. He gave me a supply of bowling balls from Bloomfield. Bill Welco (misspelled) wanted to back me. I bowled you at Riverdale and threw 11 straight shots in the pocket. But I knew who was better and step down. Orv came to me later and said you wanted to know why I quit!! Well you know. He then said you never lost your game and never came back. I was shocked because you were averaging a pay check each Friday night on that challenging condition. Dry with little room for error and with your big hook you split boards. My admiration to you, a true Pro with class.

Hello Louis Capasso, well plastic balls do not cut down scoring on dry lanes, as long as you have the right surface hardness, weigh block disturbution, and the right bowling release. I saw Chris Barnes on a friday night block throw 3 279's in a row. But he has the brain trust to help him. I know and respect the bowler's involved.

Hello Louis, I know these bowlers and in Willie's prime he would have been able to handle any lane condition thrown at him. DJ and Angel are tough bowlers who will bowl on any shot but would not be able to compete with Willie in his prime. But the times are different and NEBA may be dry but except for when they lay downa sports pattern, the shot is big!!! I do agree that they have a right to refuse but schedule another time and place. No advantages!!
