Lenny (The Cane) & Buffalo, the Dwoskin Brothers...
These two guys were what action was all about, they both were good action bowlers, not great but real good. Even though they were brothers their approach to the game and life was completely different.
Buffalo was a top notch character and Lenny had the brains.
Lenny, if you’d be so kind we would all love to hear some classic Buffalo and Cane stories.
Which one of you started bowling first and where, when did you guys start bowling action, who was better way back then.

i answered some of the questions on onother board, but i started bowling first at 13, 52st 13 ave downnstairs 6 lanes pinboys bu first game was an 80 a day later i took my brother age 11 and he bowled a 59 i think , i had a 102. but he bowled action before me as he would sneek out of the house at 15 to bowl lester the desk man at kings lanes as we lived around the corner at the time around 3 am unbeknown to me and my parents until they found him missing from his bed at around 4am. he beat him, and my father would take away the money. another time at 5 am the phone rings, from diplomat where he had phil chin stuck a couple of grand , but by the time my father got there , phil had won the next 2 games and won back the money. as far as who was better, that my opinion was posted on another board, with mutual opponents like mark stillman and stoop i was 3 and 0 he was 0 for at least three times that george told me against him alone. i played with my money, he usually 98% of the time was backed, so he could care lesss whether or not he won or lost, although he would get 10% of the winnings. he did make abundle in 8 straight weeks vs gibby pastor at kings lanes in 1958 being backed by joe the bartender. although he would take the money he won and try out on his own vs the likes of stoop.big mistake.

butch sent me a few years ago a tape he did on his t v show with stoop and mac, it lasted a couple of hours and this was shortly after i started writing on these boards, it was the year before, and it was a masterpiece with them shooting the breeze, about the action days. i did hear my name pop up along with bert johnny marc ernie and lemon, but did not hear my brothers name. i guess when you can beat those 2 guys with a house ball back to back on the same night, in their house and you only have one leg to stand on, it kind of sticks in your mind, how a kid like that who would limp to the line could average in the 230s in their house in the early 60s under those conditions hous ball and shoes. the cane

Lenny I saw that tape with Mac & Stoop, a real treasure and one of a kind, what great memories it brought back. Especially considering that Mac and Stoop were so good at sitting around and shooting the shit like that, what characters they were, so different from each other but it worked.
I hope you tell a lot more stories about you and buffalo.

if you think mac and stoop sling it , you should have been at woodhaven on fri and sat nites in the late 70s and early 80s when steve shear and i would go on for hours every week while watching the action, snake , tavie, ok , jamsie and others going at it on the lanes. bert was another one i could go for hours with, although maybe only get in 2 words or so.

Sounds like I wish I were there. Was Jamsie bowling or backing someone, what type of cash was he betting. I use to run into him occasionally at the big A and he was betting it up real big, in the area of 2 to 5 grand a race.
I remember when he was just a kid living off his mom Josie. He didn't really bowl action then but was co*ky..
