Brooklyn is the greatest.
Snake was an excellent action bowler in the 80's just ask Lenny the Cane. John Colossi was an excellent bowler. He won some Lustig's including the Bellerose Winter Challenge for $10,000. He also finished second in the Buddy Russel or Varipapa, forgot which one, I think he won a regional or two as well. He also bowled a lot of action in the early 90's. Simo Jr. was a great bowler but lost the battle to gambling and drugs. Simo Sr. was a great bowler. Saba was an excellent bowler. These people won tournaments and acheived things in bowling. I don't know what your talking about. Don't mention Petraglia, the man is a legend. Roth is the greatest bowler to come out of NY Metro area ever and he spent many a days in Maple. Brooklyn has the best bowling history in our area so respect it and the players that are from there. Long Island and Jersey have nothing in the history of our sport compared to Brooklyn. Brooklyn is where legends are made. Brooklyn is the greatest..

maple was the house in the 70's and 80's , and you are right snake was good but there were much better bowlers there. Lou Capasso was probobly the most talented with John Collossi next to the thrown. I remember a match for charity with big lou and petraglia raising money for ken kutchners charity event when petraglia shot 750 or better and was second every game to Capasso. i also watched a match against tusa where he shot back to back 300's against tusa ,he was only 15 years old. simo was probobly the best full roller EVER, period. picone was great in is own right also. maple had some great talent in those days . Capasso,Simonelli,Spallone, picone, val macari tom cammelari . nicky santagata.hornreich santini the list goes on and on.

Maple had all these great bowlers because of the Classic League, I know a lot of pot games were bowled their but to my knowledge they never had the type of high end match games that Ave M was known for in the sixties, every top name action shooter from the tri state area went to M on a constant basis, seven days a week (all night long) for a few years running.
We also can't exactly sneeze at the action that these Brooklyn houses had
Seaview Lanes Leader Lanes Kings Lanes Gil Hodges Strand Lanes Melody Lanes Kenmore Colony Bowl Loisiana Lanes New Parkway Fitzimmons Rainbow Lanes Frankie & Johnnies Leemark Lanes Elmwood Lanes
I know I left some off, a few of the above had mostly local action, but a lot of it, most of the above had action coming in from all over.

pot games were every day and every thursday after the league maple was a wierd house when the gutters broke down the only move was deep inside. horn didnt have enough ball to carry then. but i didnt have to work as a 15 to 18 year old only had to bowl. once in a while a few outsiders would try there hand at some action but they mostly went home empty handed. people always thought my backswing was kinda weird but i could always overpower the lanes . today i believe i am the father of the REAL high backswing. If i was only 20 years younger. with a better back boy oh boy I STILL WOULDNT HAVE TO WORK.

Maple was the king of the pots and afternoon action for more years than can be remembered.
The food counter was also A1, loved the breakfast food, burgers and fries.
