The greatest impression any action bowler ever made on me was Kenny Barber. The first time I saw him bowl action was at Kings Lanes in Brooklyn against Bobby Smith in the early 60s. This skinny kid had an approach, ball, and game I never saw before, he totally floored me, His style would become what some of the greats of the future would try and duplicate, but who could truly duplicate the one and only, the original, Kenny Barber... www.actionbowlers.com/action/barber.htm

Kenny Barber is still Alive!!! Wow!. The lissshp Lives. When I was 14 I would leave school and go to work at KB'S Pro Shop in Whitestone Lanes. I'd cut plugs and learn to drill balls. and basically get whack out hangin with "The Barber"!.Typical afternoon Get to the Shop at 3PM Wait for Kenny, He'd open up for 30 mins and say let's go' We'd take a ride to Triangle Lanes or College point Bowl, or go Visit Jack Clemente in Ridgewood. I can say now 33 years later that The Barber definitely left a great impression on me too! too many stories to tell in one message. Thanks for the post of the Great (in his own Mind the "Funniest man in Bowling") Kenny Barber.

Any stories you have about Kenny would be greatly appreciated. He was and still is one of the great characters of bowling and definitely was one of the greatest action bowlers of all time...

Hey Butch... I shot action in whitestone with Kenny, Doc, Mush, Larry Festa, and Feeley, LaGuardia, with Milo, Furgeson, and the man, the gorilla , the guy that had arms down to his friggan knees, God bless him, Batissta. I was there when they opened LaGuardia, and Feeley, and Gene Furgeson versus, Fazio, and Milo, and it was telephone numbers all day. Anyway Getting back to Kenny, he was very well respected in Whitestone, kept us safe, if you know what I mean, and with his help, i grew into a good action shooter, learned from Feeley, And later on, at Century lanes from The Great One every Tuesday, Andy Verapapa. I am 62 now averaging 215 NO Block, and am having the time of my life teaching... Keep this Game alive !!!
