i am willing to bowl billy red i have no problem bowling anyone but action should not be a carry contest. so lets use plastic and bowl and see who is the real better bowlers of today. billy is a good bowler and would agree the house i bowl at is a joke 250 with 12 guys doesnt finish in the top 3 its crazy. tough house , plastic equiptment. talent need apply only. with todays long oil it will be a test of skill not a carry contest. ;D ;D

As far as real action goes Billy is as close to being a throwback to the real action bowlers of the past as they come these days, that being said I doubt he'll bowl you on a shot or condition that's not up his alley.
What a lot of guys don't realize is that regardless of what you did or didn't do. you're one of the true natural great talents that ever picked up a bowling ball, in your prime, you were capable of beating any bowler in the world anytime you got on the alleys, and with that in your face excitment of a Pete weber or Marshall Hollman.
Lou you truly are one of the great ones.
As good as Billy is he's not in your class, his true roll should be being your backer, not your opponent.
You and Joe Berardi would have made an awesome doubles team in action, who would have bowled anker?
I would of given my right nut to see you and Joey against Jeff Kitter and Cliff Burgland. I would of come in my pants just walking in the door.
There match against Roth and rags was good but Mark and Johnny were never known as big time action shooters, you and Joey were.

actually joe berardi and i did bowl doubles together in the late 70's early 80's. we bowled 2 debbies. berardi and capasso. dont remember the outcome lol. also i am pretty sure he and i bowled amatch somewhere maybe michigan. I remember becouse ebonite had just come out with the mag 10,11,12 or something like that and we drilled a couple ( the ebonite rep gave us a case of each) and ended up bowling a matchit could have been the ebonite rep and another pro or 2 pro's dont remember. dont even remember if we won or what we bet. but here s a match that was cool. larry lichstien and joe hutchinson were picking on me 1977 so i of course challenged them to a match. they both agrred so i said i would take little mike larry's son who was about 10 or 11 at the time as my partner we get on the lanes with hutch and his big grin thinking this is an easy steak dinner. mike and i beat them. steak dinners on lich and hutch. funny thing mike and i age wise together at the time were not equal to either of them alone.

answer to the question who would bowl anchor mmmmmm probobly me because i am a pocket shooter and am always there, would just be a carry thing for me. i throw so hard that the only thing that stopped me was the a 10 pin or 4 or wallshot 7. but thats the way i bowled i could rev it up with the best only thing was my ball never went into a roll it had to much speed. i was a hard thrower, even though i stroked thru the shot my swing and approach forced me to throw the the ball hard. berardi wow when he was bowling he just looked so good. approach armswing revs, he was awesome.i bowled with joe in paramus a few times we would both go up and sub when we were not on tour. he would bowl 1st and i would bowl 4th or 5th especially when we bowled with joe cirrillo and butch dangel. anyway thanks for the compliment . to billy red hey maybe we should team up and bowl never know. have him email me and we could talk.us to fatsos could make a killing. or i am at circle lanes in nj every sunday morning my once a week bowling is in the beat the house these days, there are brackets and then 20 a man pot games after the tourny and some action. lot of good bowlers there. a fun day.

roth and rags match against kitter and burgland was not a great match. rags bowled horrible and burgland was worse. i dont think either of them broke 180 that night. i enjoyed the spallone beeper match spallone went berzerk, beeper was beeping and fouling buy a foot and a half drove spallone crazy. last game spallone needs to make a 10 pin goes down to the front of the masking unit on 1 knee and makes the spare the beeper beeped for an hour after that. spallone quit 1 up or so. but funniest thing i ever saw. beeper going wha wha wha wha what was tttttttthat wooop wooooop woooop. spallone telling him 1 ft over the foul line or 55 ft over samething. they are both fouls. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Do you have any idea why Roth wouldn't bowl Kitter singles after the doubles match was over?
I remember Daily saying he would cover the house and Mark turned it down.

i could have sworn they did bowl a game or two but i was betting on spallone . but if they didnt probobly becouse mark didnt want to lose face in front of all his friends at that time.mark and i were very very close friends from 1976 to 1982 and we did not talk much about that match. matter of fact mark would not even bowl for lunch when we would practice . i remember my 1 st stop on tour in houston as a pro. i missed the ptq squad and mark told me iowa was not a great shot and we drove home to bowl the landgraf, suswal and vargo. when we got home we went to the suswal and there was some side betting going on and mark didnt get any, Berardi , ed ressler jr, gil sliker ed di tolla and alot of great bowlers were having pots and side bets so i got in and i asked mark why not ,he said he just didnt want to. anyway my oppinion was he was just cheap. we would be at simo's pro shop and we would get lunch, he rarely paid for his own.

Ya I don't think Mark had the heart for betting his own money but was great on tour.
I remember after the doubles match ended I went down stairs and was betting on Butch the owner of this site against Larry Star, they split 3 and 3, I didn't catch you bowling that night.
What did roth and rags think of this match prior to it happenning and how was it set up, I over heard Mark talking kind of big at the food counter before it started.

i do not remember starr bowling after that larry and i and ed ogrady played golf together almost every day thru the late 80's. I only bowled larry 1 time in a 3 way match with tony attenasio mysel and larry at bridge lanes 100 a man each i won 3 straight then doc iondoli came and tony me and doc bowled 2 more and i won both of those. it was after a kegler tournement i was about 17 or so. but larry was a steady accurate bowler who i had alot of respect for. he is also a good golfer and a friend. if he is around i would like to get together with him . and i am not sure who set the rags roth match but i wanted to bowl them myself that day. i bowled steve fishman downstairs about an hour and a half before they bowled and whooped him good .

Larry bowled Butch (Cliff) downstairs on the left side, first two lanes against the wall.

i remember the match well. simo sr ,picone the micali,s, ed o'grady spallone, lautato, and just about the whole maple lanes major league was there. i remember some people talking about another match besides the spallone - beeper match but didnt see it',i bowled steve fishman down stairs before the MATCH of MATCHES. i remember wanting to bowl all of them that night i was 16 or so my father told me to just watch. and dont get involved, but from that day i always wanted to bowl kitter and burgland. i was lucky enough for that to come true and lucky enough beat them both. as for the beeper he would never bowl me. great memory of the match just 4 great bowlers bowling awful and i mean awful Rags and cliff couldnt beat old ladies that night. i do not think they broke 170. it was a horror show.
